Missouri GOP Calls Missouri Democrat a DFH*

I guess that when you have nothing else, you dust off the 1972 playbook and call a Dive Right. The Missouri Republican Party is sending out the following mailer in Saint Charles County:

DFH 1.jpg

DFH 2.jpg

Now, if you know who Kristy Manning is, you'll do nothing but laugh when the mailer arrives at your door. She's a smart, thoughtful candidate who's focused like a laser beam on job creation, energy, and health care. Maybe Republicans think that voters are gullible enough to believe that youthful Democrat = DFH or something.

It doesn't hurt that unlike previous Democratic candidates in the area, Manning is a proud Democrat running in a year where the top of the ticket, Barack Obama and Jay Nixon, are putting a lot of resources in around the state. They're also providing a brand that simultaneously proclaims "Change" and "Missouri values" centered around the same issues that Manning is talking about. Democrats don't win often in Saint Peters, but then again, they often spend too much time explaining their differences with the national party.

Still, Manning has to continue to get that message out. You can help by contributing some cash to her campaign to help with her last-minute mailings. And if you're in the area, please sign up to go door to door or phonebank for Manning.

*DFH = Dirty F%@!ing Hippy, for those who don't know.

They didn't throw in anything about guns?

I do like the rainbow colors, though.

wonder if those pictures are public domain, or if they have permission from copyright holders to use images of John Lennon meditating like an Egyptian, and the image of the women on the right.

Wouldn't stun me if the people in that pic would object to such characterizations. Or if the women on the right were actually straight.

They found stock images of modern hippies.

are actually funny - especially the floating Lennon picture.  It's like the Republican party is stuck in 1968 - yet more evidence how out of touch they are.

But I did donate.

What's wrong with being a liberal? I cannot understand why this is used as an epithet. As a former Liberal Party candidate in England before emigrating to the US in 1977, I consider it a middle-of-the-road label for one who doesn't hold extreme views and weighs the evidence rather than being too idealogical.

they didn't find anything on her supporting acid, but they decided to just go with claims that she supports Amnesty and Abortion.

But the acid is implied by a hippy floating on a cloud.
