So now that it isn't just us dirty fuckin' hippie bloggers who are saying so, now that we are joined by no less a Serious Person than former President Bill Clinton, will the issue get some traction in the press?
One of the most pervasive political movements going on outside Washington today is the disciplined, passionate, determined effort of Republican governors and legislators to keep most of you from voting next time....There has never been in my lifetime, since we got rid of the poll tax and all the Jim Crow burdens on voting, the determined effort to limit the franchise that we see today. Why should we disenfranchise people forever once they've paid their price? Because most of them in Florida were African Americans and Hispanics who tended to vote for Democrats. That's why.
It's about effing time someone pulled that curtain back and called these disenfranchising efforts what they are -- an effort to return to the era of Jim Crow, back when minorities and women knew their place and it wasn't in the federal legislature and it sure as hell wasn't in their White House.
They're racist d-bags. That is the beginning, the end and the middle, and it really is that god-damned simple.
Thank you, Sir, for saying it. Be prepared for the poutrage that will beset you any minute now, because you have done gone and hurt their wittle feefees, and they are gonna bull up and cry and try to make you apologize.
