Nixon Worries About Health Care Reform Costs?

We noted a couple of days ago that our governor, Jay Nixon, was one of the six Democratic governors who did not sign a letter lobbying congress for Health care reform. Thanks to Jo Mannies of the St. Louis Beacon (via the West County Democrats' Digest), we learn that the  governor, who recently received several large donations from health care firms, did not sign the letter because:

...... it does not address the need to prevent unreasonable costs from being placed on the states, which Gov. Nixon believes is an important issue in federal health care reform."

As for the donations from insurance and health companies:

Nixon allies point to two issues where he has split with health insurers: coverage of autism treatment (he wants it, the insurers don't) and his support of measures to require swifter insurance payments to medical providers (he wants it, the insurers don't.)

Hmmm ...

UPDATE (from Clark): Just to add, the several large insurance company donations to Jay Nixon totaled $72,500, and came from six(!) companies. This is really sick.

Definitely a WTF??? inspiring position (3.00 / 1)
I mean, c'mon! The status quo is busting budgets right and left. Jay needs to stop thinking like a 70s democrat who is tried of having the crap kicked out of him by republican bully-boys and start acting like a Truman Democrat and kicking ass and taking names and not sayin' he's sorry, neither.

The "concerns" Jay has about this are on a par with me worrying about bears invading my condo. Not saying it isn't technically possible, but the odds are really, really long...

I wish political parties to divorce their unfit (0.00 / 0)
representatives ... I can think of several folks here in Missouri that the party ought to divorce.
