St.Louis Pushes Back goes after lying, frothing teabaggers.

by: hotflash

Sun Aug 16, 2009 at 16:51:37 PM CDT

There's a new kid on the block, St. Louis Pushes Back, that has been doing yeoman's work investigating the lies of Hennessy, Loesch, Brown, et. al. about Kenneth Gladney, as well as exposing the childish, irrational hatred and contradictory thinking of local teabaggers.

PushBack investigates, for example, an African-American birther named Kevin Jackson, whose blogsite, The Black Sphere, goes after Obama as a black racist, as a Hitler figure, as a terrorist, and as a secret Muslim. Jackson's site also shows Michelle Obama with hyper masculine features. She and Hillary are, Jackson thinks, secretly male because they are strong women. (The day Jackson posts a similar picture of Dana Loesch, he'll gain an atom of credibility.)

St. Louis Pushes Back describes the way Bill Hennessey  abhors frivolous lawsuits--except that, in print, Hennessy urges frivolous lawsuits against corporations that pulled their ads off Glenn Beck's show. In another posting, PushBack takes him to task for claiming the Post lied about Gladney's lack of medical insurance--and yet PushBack has Hennessy on video asking teabaggers to help with Gladney medical bills. If Gladney has medical insurance, why does he need help? PushBack also nails the teabaggers here, here, and here for their lies of commission and omission about the McCaskill town hall.

Combine the work of St. Louis Pushes Back with coverage from Blog St. Louis and postings at our own Show Me Progress, and you can get the compleat picture of ye olde Mephistophilean liars, the teabaggers.

But I've saved the best for last. Another local progressive blog, St.Louis Activist Hub, has two pieces that scrutinize the videos and photos from the Carnahan town hall where the faux Gladney beating happened. The first looks frame by frame at the post fight video and convincingly argues that Gladney was more likely the perpetrator than the victim. The second shows Gladney's lawyer and employer, David Brown, lying about the buttons he had Gladney selling. By hiding some of the buttons and lying about what had been for sale, he was concealing relevant evidence from the police. As a lawyer, he should know better.

We progressives feel confident linking to teabagger sites because we have the stronger case. If they dare link to our exposes, it's only because if their irrational lemmings were to visit, they wouldn't be moved by reason. They would do here what they did to Claire: rant in the face of logic.

It is one thing to expose the lies, but the trad media refrain ... (0.00 / 0)
has been to grant these folks credibility.  Consequently, today, we learn that the Obama administration is calling it a day and signaling willingness to abandon a real public option.  The mobs have won I think.

Although maybe I'm wrong? (0.00 / 0)
Is this true?

[ Parent ]
Looks like you guys are wrong - again- this time on healthcare (0.00 / 0)
Ranting on Claire?  Really, her numbers are her rantings and you post them for all to see.

Tut Tut.

[ Parent ]
What exactly are you trying to say? ... (0.00 / 0)
if anything.  This comment is a bit too obscure for me.

[ Parent ]
Just a little rant. (0.00 / 0)
Yes, today is the day!
Let's all say it together, "the public option is off the table"!

The only change this country is going to see is most of the campaign promises from democrats and republicans alike.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that government alternative to private health insurance is "not the essential element" of the administration's health care overhaul. The White House would be open to co-ops, she said, a sign that Democrats want a compromise so they can declare a victory.

Compromise my ass!  That "compromise" is the collective spine of the democratic party collapsing all around us.  There is no victory with unproven insurance co-ops, the victory is for those against healthcare reform.  It appears that the combination of monied interests and ignorance are going to once again deny what is best for the American people.

My progressive optimism has waned.

Before you despair ... (0.00 / 0)
read this resume of comments ... .  Of course what this means is that we have to really double down and make sure Claire the cowardly lioness, along with congressional leadership, the White House, and members of relevant Senate Committees, hear us loud and clear about the importance of the public option.

[ Parent ]
DKos, it's been awhile. (0.00 / 0)
Thanks for the link, I'm not sure what I was to glean from a trip down that disparate avenue though.  I do absolutely agree that we must do more, it just seems to be a futile effort sometimes.  Don't want to completely hijack this fine post by Hotflash, another day.

Because nothing says compassionate progressives (0.00 / 0)
like using sexual terms to deride their opponents.  National politicians from your party say it and you condone it!  Is it OK for Republicans to call all y'all socialists, or would that not be right in your world-view?

What are y ou talking about? ... (0.00 / 0)
this is incomprehensible.

[ Parent ]
I'll break it down for you (0.00 / 0)
Is it OK to say your political oppponents let people put their testicles in their mouth?  You DO realize that is what teabagging means, right?  Yes, yes, this is a partisan blog.  It's also disappointing and childish behavior that I would expect from Jay and Silent Bob, not supposed adults.  I'm married to a liberal but she can refrain from being vile about those she disagrees with.  Why is it so hard for this posse?

[ Parent ]
Actually, I believe these folks began callng themselves teabaggers (0.00 / 0)
before anyone else did.  Of course, those souls who understood the earlier meaning thought it was pretty funny and ran with it.  I don't expect that the name will go away anytime soon.

I prefer to call them fringe-wingers because I think it gives a more accurate picture of who these people are -- and I don't think that, given their tactics, they deserve respect.

[ Parent ]
Here is a link to a programwhere Rachel Maddow has some fun (0.00 / 0)
with some of the fringe-wingers and their use of the word "teabag" as a verb.  If they want the ephthet, they should learn to live with it.

[ Parent ]
Uh... (0.00 / 0)
...you're the first person hereabouts I can recall writing "...your political oppponents let people put their testicles in their mouth..."

You didn't check out the pretty picture? Maybe you should chastise the individual in the photo for his denseness.

Your concern troll reaction reminds me of this:

Huey Freeman: American Hero

..."Ahem," began the unsmiling youth. "In this time of war against Osama bin Laden and the oppressive Taliban regime, we are thankful that OUR leader isn't the spoiled son of a powerful politician from a wealthy oil family who is supported by religious fundamentalists, operates through clandestine organizations, has no respect for the democratic electoral process, bombs innocents, and uses war to deny people their civil liberties. Amen."...

Aaron McGruder, creator of "The Boondocks"

...I wanted to ask you specifically about the Thanksgiving strip where Huey compares President Bush to Osama bin Laden. Do you think that's crossing the line on a holiday like that after a major tragedy such as Sept. 11?

A couple of things about that: One, I stole that joke from an Internet forward that was going around. I don't even know who originated it. Two, the best thing about that strip is that it never says G.W. Bush. The reader has to make the connection. If the reader reads what I wrote and thinks about G.W. Bush, that means it's fucking true! So I didn't make it up; you came to the conclusion as well. And if it's true, why are you mad at me? If he's not all those things, then what are you mad at? (Laughs.)...

[emphasis in original]

So, the teabaggers name themselves and you get mad at us? That's just too rich.

...Wailing about being victimized doesn't wear well on anyone. It's laughable when it comes from supposedly self-reliant right wingnuts...

Yes, I saw the picture (0.00 / 0)
I don't condone the language, never saw it before, and have never heard anyone on the right (which I'm not) call themselves teabaggers.  I've only heard teabagger used as epithets by those on the left, including the exalted (and constantly smirking every time she uttered the word) Rachel Maddow and a freaking US Senator (Dick Durbin).  But I guess you think it's OK to stoop to their assumed level, based upon one picture?

[ Parent ]
Ah, a concern troll (0.00 / 0)
...But I guess you think it's OK to stoop to their assumed level, based upon one picture?

Oh, so now I need to provide you with footnotes and a bibliography? Try this:

concern troll

A person who lurks, then posts, on a site or blog, expressing concern for policies, comments, attitudes of others on the site. It is viewed as insincere, manipulative, condescending.

Oh please (0.00 / 0)
Call me what you want, as long as it makes you feel better about using sexual terms to deride your opponents.  Typical behavior from those who say they are enlightened and compassionate and understanding of their fellow man.  Did you ever call out the teabaggers when some of them were using that term in reference to their campaign to teabag Obama?

[ Parent ]
Concern troll (0.00 / 0)
...Typical behavior from those who say they are enlightened and compassionate and understanding of their fellow man...

Does your enlightenment, compassion and understanding only extend to disruptive teabaggers who oppose fixing this?:

...According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 46 million Americans, or 18 percent of the population under the age of 65, were without health insurance in 2007, their latest data available...

...The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, using the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) estimated that the percentage of uninsured Americans under age 65 represented 27 percent of the population.  According to the MEPS data, nearly 54 million Americans under the age of 65 were uninsured in the first-half of 2007...

...Nearly 1.3 million full-time workers lost their health insurance in 2006...

So much for teabagger enlightenment, compassion, and understanding, eh. I'd call it a complete lack of empathy.

...using sexual terms to deride your opponents...

They labeled themselves.

So, who around here besides you has written "...your political oppponents let people put their testicles in their mouth..."?

Different things mean different things to different people, as illustrated by a sci-fi classic:

....Det. Samuel 'George' Francisco: It is like your name... Sykes. I'm sure it doesn't bother you at all that it sounds like "ss'ai k'ss," two words in my language which mean "excrement" and "cranium."  [pause] Shithead....

Meanwhile, your concern about the feelings of teabaggers is quite touching.

I don't care about the concerns of teabaggers (0.00 / 0)
or progressives for that matter.  I think it's shameful speech on both sides, can ya rise above it?  I guess not.

[ Parent ]
Evidently... (0.00 / 0)
I don't care about the concerns of teabaggers...

...you do, or you wouldn't be expending so much energy on this subject.

Typical concern troll, all opposing ideas are equal.

I'm curious, have you been traipsing over to teabagger sites to chastise them? That'd be a riot.

Yeah, we're shameful here, we advocate disruption and violence at public events. Oh, wait, we only mock people like that.

Take your self righteousness and tea bag it.

No Michael, you don't get it (0.00 / 0)
I don't condone liberals chortling about teabaggers or birthers blathering about Obama's birth certificate or perceived lack thereof.  I do think that the extremes (and yes, your little merry band here falls on the far-left fringes) in politics, no matter the bent, is not conducive to moving the state or the country forward.  And here I thought this site might be a weee bit more constructive than Fired Up Missouri...

[ Parent ]
When you've got something to complain about that is a bit (3.00 / 1)
more substantive than the fact that you object to the sexual connotations of a label that a rather unhinged group applied to themselves, then maybe this high dudgeon would be more convincing. And of course, one man's far left is just the rational center for another. If you think that this site is far left, you don't really know what left is.

[ Parent ]
Heh. (0.00 / 0)
... you don't get it...

Oh, I do get it. That's why you keep coming back here.

So, how about it?:

...I'm curious, have you been traipsing over to teabagger sites to chastise them?...

You just outed yourself:

...and yes, your little merry band here falls on the far-left fringes...

Only a reactionary right wing concern troll would label us the "far-left fringes".

Go Google my name Michael and you can see just how wrong you are about my political affiliation.  Me, I'm getting back to my vacation and making a mental note that it's OK for progressives to demean their opponents if they can rationalize it to themselves.  Toodles!

Dig a little deeper, 2002 is so passe (0.00 / 0)
Bob Barr has had a bit of revelation the past few years about some of the laws he passed and how it made government bigger (not a good thing in his mind now), such as the USA PATRIOT Act and the Defense of Marriage Act, among others.  He's no longer a Republican, hasn't been for a few years now, and has done work for the ACLU among other groups you wouldn't expect someone of his ilk to associate with.  Yes, I voted for Barr, but he's quite a better choice than John McSame or Barack "Bush 44" Obama.

[ Parent ]
What do you mean? (3.00 / 1)
Did you ever call out the teabaggers when some of them were using that term in reference to their campaign to teabag Obama?

"call them out" -- you mean, like say "pssst--you're making fools of yourselves"?  I am afraid I am not inclined to acts of charity towards people, even acting out of ignorance, when they are so determined to scuttle something as important to our country as healthcare reform -- and when so many of them are so clearly doing it only because they are nursing a grievance abut their upended world view (liberals (and a black one at that) won the election) that they are not willing to participate in rational dialogue.

[ Parent ]
Congratulations on your delicate sensibilities ... (3.00 / 1)
given some of what I've heard from the fringe-wingers, they must get quite a work-out.  (And we all heard the teabaggers use the term -- that's why Maddow is having such a good time laughing at the self-labeling fools)

[ Parent ]
Uh... (0.00 / 0)
...we don't walk around with "socials" stapled to our picket signs.

Your concern trolling is quite touching.

Look at the pretty picture. One calls 'em as one sees 'em.
